Host: welcome Hal Cruttenden
Hal Cruttenden is a comedian, actor and writer. His credits stretch from Eastenders and Shackleton all the way to Have I Got News For You and Mock The Week. Hal is unashamedly suburban, by his own admission teetering on the edge of a mid-life crisis. According to The Scotsman ‘he takes the personal and the ridiculous, and whizzes them into a delicious comedy smoothie that’s sweet with a hint of sharpness.’ The Times commented that he ‘Reminded me how much I love stand up’, while the Daily Mirror says ‘He’s got something to say and he’ll make you laugh, a lot!’
Following his recent divorce after twenty three years of marriage, Hal is now finding new levels of comedy navigating the 50s dating scene. He still jokes about his grown up kids but has to be kinder now he’s competing with his ex over who they want to spend Christmas with.
He has appeared twice on The Royal Variety Performance, hosted Live at the Apollo and performed stand-up almost everywhere from Belgium to Bahrain - winning rave reviews at Montreal’s Just For Laughs and the Melbourne Comedy Festival. He also danced to Destiny’s Child’s Bootylicious for Let's Dance For Comic Relief, taken on the Sports Relief Sailing Challenge, and has even performed to British Army personnel at a listening station, on top of a mountain in the Falkland Islands.
